SAN DIMAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May. 15, 2009-- American States Water Company (NYSE:AWR) announced today that it sold 1,000,000 common shares to the public on May 14, 2009 at $31.00 per share and granted an over-allotment option to the underwriters to purchase an additional 150,000 shares at the same price per share. The Company intends to use the proceeds of the offering to repay short-term debt.

Janney Montgomery Scott LLC is serving as sole book-runner and lead manager for the offering. Edward D. Jones & Co., L.P. and Brean Murray, Carret & Co., LLC are serving as co-managers.
